It all began in the Crescent City at the corner of Rampart and Dumaine, engineer Cosimo Matassa's J&M Music recording studio. Little Richard, Lloyd Price, Shirley & Lee, Bobby Charles, Smiley Lewis, Huey 'Piano' Smith, T-Bone Walker, Fats Domino, Professor Longhair, Clarence 'Frogman' Henry, Earl King, Bobby Mitchell, and about thirty-five others. This is foundation American r&b/rock'n'roll. The box set contains a 40 page booklet with rare photographs, artist biographies, and in-depth discographical information on the contained singles.

Songwriter Luke Allen's tunes about the beat-up but still-standing are more literature than pop-rock, but his backing band (members of Morning 40 Federation and Royal Fingerbowl among other rock outfits), provide ample muscle.
